Menopause wellbeing
Women navigate unique challenges in both life and the workplace, often overlooked or misunderstood. While I’m deeply grateful for the support of male allies, it’s essential to recognize the profound impact of hormonal fluctuations on women’s lives. From monthly oscillations to the monumental shifts of pregnancy and motherhood, women juggle multiple roles while contending with physical and emotional changes that men never experience.
Enter perimenopause and menopause—a time when the world can feel like it’s turned upside down for many women. Beyond hot flashes and fatigue, we confront brain fog, memory loss, weight fluctuations, and mood swings. Yet, comprehensive support remains elusive, even in developed nations. A holistic approach to menopause care—one that goes beyond prescriptions and addresses diet, exercise, and mental well-being.
Menopause typically occurs around 51-52 years, but can range from 45-55 years. Perimenopause begins 7-10 years before the last menstrual period.
Perimenopause Symptoms include irregular periods, a “zone of chaos” with hormones, mental health changes, brain fog, palpitations, and fatigue. Common menopause symptoms: are hot flashes, sleep disturbances, reduced executive function, fatigue, vertigo, dry skin, and gut changes.
We can:
- Prioritize protein intake and swap carbs for veggies and fruits to manage symptoms.
- Incorporate strength training and daily movement for overall health.
- Advocate for hormone testing and consult with endocrinologists for personalized care.
- Learn about hormones and peptides to better understand our bodies
I love seeing platforms like The Guardian dedicating space to menopause education and pros like Dr. Mary Claire Haver leading the charge. Dr. Haver just teamed up with one of the most well know science podcasters Dr. Andrew Huberman to talk about the menopause. Empowering ourselves with knowledge is key to living vibrant lives. 💕
“Your diet is probably one of the most important things that determines your level of inflammation.” – Mary Claire Haver
We deserve to thrive in every way—physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
